I bake things.
Cakes, pies, pastries, cookies, ice cream—I love it all. In college I was the cookie girl. Now, I’m known for my Charity Cakes (because my name is Charity, not because they’re donations). I adore every step of the baking process, from thinking up a recipe to sharing it with people I love.
Why poetry and pies? I’m also a high school English teacher. Literature and baking are my two favorite things in the world. Plus, baking is at once a science and an art. I’m always on the hunt for innovative creations as well as the perfect ratio of ingredients for a recipe. It can be beautiful and delicious and yet so technical and precise.
On Poetry & Pies you will find an array of recipes: quick and easy, healthy substitutions, the best chocolate cake EVER, and those random things you hear about on the Food Network but never see in cookbooks but really want to try.
